LucasArts today announced that, for the first time ever, five of the greatest Star Wars games for the personal computer, plus a free 14-day trial of Star Wars Galaxies, will be packaged together in Star Wars: The Best of PC. This exciting new compilation will be released this month, and will be available only for the holiday 2006 season for a suggested price of $39.99.
Star Wars: The Best of PC features titles from some of the most popular videogame franchises ever released. Combined, the games have sold millions of copies worldwide and, for the first time, are available in one box. Included in Star Wars: The Best of PC are: Star Wars: Empire at War, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Star Wars Battlefront, Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast, and Star Wars Republic Commando. In addition, a 14-day trial of the popular online experience, Star Wars Galaxies, is included in the package.
"Hundreds of hours of Star Wars gameplay, spanning many different genres, can be found in Star Wars: The Best of PC, making it the perfect holiday gift for any Star Wars fan, or any PC gamer," said Nancy MacIntyre, vice president of global sales and marketing for LucasArts. "Every kind of gameplay is available in The Best of PC, from fast-paced action, to tactical, real-time strategy, to engaging role-playing. It's all here, it's all PC, and it's all Star Wars."
Star Wars: The Best of PC includes the following games:
Star Wars: Empire at War
Star Wars: Empire at War puts the power to command a war for the entire Star Wars galaxy in the hands of players. This award-winning strategy game is set before the events of Episode IV: A New Hope, and lets players wage war on memorable Star Wars locations on the ground and in space, as well as experience the creation of the Rebel Alliance, the strengthening of the Empire and the beginnings of the Galactic Civil War. In addition to the single-player campaign mode, the game includes a two-player campaign mode and online skirmish modes for up to eight players.
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is the recipient of over forty Game of the Year Awards and widely considered one of the best role-playing experiences of all time. Set in a time four thousand years before the rise of the Galactic Empire, when hundreds of Jedi Knights have fallen before the ruthless Sith armada, the player is the last hope of the Jedi Order. Players must choose a path down either the light or dark side of the Force® as they begin a new adventure that will determine the fate of the entire galaxy.
Star Wars Battlefront
Star Wars Battlefront gives gamers the opportunity to re-live all of the classic Star Wars battles like never before, in one of the best-selling Star Wars games of all time. Players can select any one of a number of different soldier types, jump into any vehicle, man any turret on the battlefront and conquer the galaxy planet-by-planet online with their friends, or offline in a variety of single player modes.
Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast
Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast is the third title in the best-selling Jedi Knight series. A dynamic single and multiplayer action experience, this title continues the saga of the once-powerful Jedi Knight, Kyle Katarn, as he struggles with the power – and danger – of the Force. Through a multitude of complex and richly detailed Star Wars environments, players will face a variety of powerful enemies and once again fight for the Rebel cause. Armed with the power of the Force and an arsenal of weapons, players hold the fate of the Star Wars galaxy and the destiny of Kyle Katarn in their hands.
Star Wars Republic Commando
Star Wars Republic Commando is a squad-based first-person action game that lets players explore the elite world of the Star Wars military. Leading a three-man squad of Republic commandos, players will go deep behind enemy lines in 14 intense and challenging levels, through three different campaigns. Players have more than a dozen deadly weapons at their disposal, but none more lethal than the squad they command.
Star Wars Galaxies 14-Day Trial The bonus Star Wars Galaxies 14-Day Trial offers complete base-game access to one of the longest-running and most popular online experiences in the world. Star Wars Galaxies brings gamers of all ages and skill levels together online in the ultimate Star Wars adventure. Players will jump into exciting adventures that lead them to legendary Star Wars locations, beginning aboard the Millennium Falcon and leading to such places as Jabba's Palace and the infamous Mos Eisley Cantina. Along the way, they'll join with Star Wars characters on missions that span across the galaxy, both on land and in space, as they either ally with the Rebels or join forces with the Dark Side. Heroic adventurers can seek their fortune as a bounty hunter, smuggler, Jedi or a host of other unique Star Wars professions.

Seeing as I have all those games at a total price of around £240, I won't bother getting any of them again for Lucasart's profit. I will, however, be writing a letter of complaint to LA that undercutting that total price by such a huge margin is unethical and essentially devalues the games I've already bought at large expense to myself.
LA, get your act together, don't just scrabble together some well-selling SW games from the past, MAKE SOME NEW ONES AS WELL! Where are KotOR 3, RCII, JK4 or BFIII?

I think this is a good idea. But where is Tie Fighter? I mean ya, its REALLY old, but it was probably the best star wars game on the computer.
However, like #3 said, they need to make more. I demand a Battlefront III and a new Jedi Knight! Think of what they could do with Jedi Knight now with all the new tech! Lightsaber animations to the MAX.

I totally agree with you. Though LucasArts sucks ALOT as far as customer service goes, and the type of computers they support, they provide great games. Like others have said, "Where the hell is JK4 and KotOR III?!?!?"

I think JK3 should be on there, it's loads better than JK2. And I want proper weather and Lightsaber Whips/4-Lightsabers/Duel Staffs for JK4.

I've notice how EA games use a similar technique with their Sims games, looks like LA are getting in on the act. As with number 3, I ain't too happy having paid for all of them also...

Seriously though, $39.99 that's a killer deal for anyone who doesn't have these games yet. Also they've done this before. I bought the old Star Wars Classics for PC a long time ago and it came with Rebel Assault, Rebel Assault II, Tie-Fighter, Making of the updated versions of the OT, Dark Forces Demo.
