|Kuat: KDY Headquarters (Kuat Campaign CH2) (1.2) - File Description
| Description: |
Yet another map in Corusca_Fire's series of Kuat Campaigns. This urban map comes with an excellent back story that can perfectly sets up the map for the player. This map is well laid out and features some creative usage of props to establish the urban theme. The textures and lighting are a bit bland though and do not aid in promoting any of the more interesting areas of the map. The author could of also taken time to use props to cover up the edges of the higher parts of the map. Overall though this is a well made map and is a great sequel to chapter one of the Kuat Campaign.
Gah! Its me again! I've been sumbitting too many maps, haven't I? Oh well; theres another one, Kuat: Rearguard Action, thats gonna be ready soon. This is Chapter 2 of the Kuat Campaign. Be sure to get your hands on chapter 1 (Kuat: Imperial Base) and the prologue (Kuat Campaign Prolouge MapPack)!

The Kuat Campaign Chapter 2
Kuat: KDY Headquarters
Gah! Its me again! I've been sumbitting too many maps, haven't I? Oh well; theres another one thats gonna be ready soon. This is Chapter 2 of the Kuat Campaign. Be sure to get your hands on chapter 1 (Kuat: Imperial Base) and the prologue (Kuat Campaign Prolouge MapPack)!
SUMMARY OF THE CAMPAIGN SO FAR: After helping to oust the imperial defenders from orbit (Kuat Prologue Mappack: Deep Orbit), the Alliance battalion this campaign follows managed to snatch a landing zone right out from under the noses of our Imperial battalion (Kuat Prologue Mappack: Kuat: Tactical Insertion). The rest of the Alliance army landed, and fought a grueling land war against firmly entrenched imperials. Eventually, our Alliance battalion wrested an outpost along a critical supply line (defended by none other than our imperial battalion) (Kuat: Imperial Base). Now, as Imperial troops withdrawal, a battle begins at the KDY HQ...
Commander! Your strike on the Imperial outpost along that supply route was a stunning success. I'm hearing rumors
that Command is considering you for a promotion..
In the meantime, as our star field officer, Command has chosen you to lead a strike behind enemy lines- to take KDY
Headquarters. The Imperial battalions have withdrawn from their front-line fortresses to the area supply depot,
leaving this city relatively undefended. You have been inserted in an upper-class residential area near the city
center. No doubt the Empire will soon dispatch forces to combat you.
Intel is limited, but it is believed that if you can take the KDY center, it can be held easily by erecting a number
of turbolasers around the entrances. This frees up forces to move on the Park, residential district, commercial
district, spaceport, or factory. Maneuver your forces to secure important resources, and build up for an assault on
any Imperial positions in the inner city.
Air support will, again, take time to arrive; our bombers are all flying missions over the retreating Imperial
forces to keep their tails between their legs, and there are no CAPs in your area. Take care when committing to major
Good Luck, Commander! May the force be with you.
Your inept predecessor allowed a key outpost along our supply lines to fall to rebel forces! Rest assured, though;
incompetent Colonel has been dealt with in the harshest manner possible.
Unfortunately, no amount of punishment can undo his tomfoolery. A general retreat has been ordered; we fall back to
the supply depot.
Sector command has something different in mind for you, though, Lieutenant Colonel. You are being given command of
the remainder of the fool's battalion and are being rushed to KDY headquarters to head off a rebel incursion. It is
vital that you secure the HQ and its turbolaser defenses ASAP. Then you can concentrate your energy elsewhere. The Rebel base is situated in an upper-class residential area. Oust the Rebels quickly to save these good citizens from being harmed by those vagrants.
We have no CAPs in your area, Lt. Colonel. Most of our bombers and fighters are either grounded or being used to slow down the rebel vanguard as it harries our rearguard. Any air support you manage to bribe your way into will be slow
in arriving to your position.
In the name of the Emperor, squash the scum! Another failure of the likes of your predecessor's will not be
I really hate doing urban maps, but I had to give it a try. I hope it turned out well.
There are a number of command posts
-City Park- in the back of a walled-off city park. Mineral processor nearby.
-Factory Lot- in a lot next to the factory. Mineral processor nearby.
-Commercial district-amongst office buildings, a speeder park, and a shopping mall. Mineral processor nearby.
-Residential district-amongst several apartment complexes. Mineral processor nearby.
-Spaceport- in the center of a complex of landing terminals for private spacecraft. Mineral processor and cantina nearby.
-Rebel base- situated in and around several upper-class apartment complexes (complete with courtyard greens) on a slightly elevated area.
-Imperial base- situated in a fairly open, raised area, normally used as a private landing pad for KDY executives and other company transports.
There are also two mining pads that are not associated with command posts.
Hint: Build defenses. Turrets, turbolasers, and a lighting quick reaction time are the key here. Use faster units to get to and hold key areas until the infantry can arrive. Once you secure a good portion of the map, assault the enemy base. Otherwise, your assault force may be outflanked, your artillery demolished, and your frontline foothold lost. Be careful here, especially when playing on max difficulty or online.
Please, download, comment, and R&R. And be sure to download the rest of the Kuat Campaign maps, if you haven't already.
Have fun (an unenjoyable experience similar to that of your predecessor will not be tolerated, Lt. Colonel!).
