Contained is the EAW/FoC Mod Launcher Program by the Team over at SMG.

It automatically detects all Mods you have installed in Modpaths.

1. Installation & Requirements
To run the launcher you need to have Microsoft Dot.NET Framework 2.0 installed
You can find it on the official Microsoft website:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/thankyou.aspx?familyId=0856eacb-4362-4b0d-8edd-aab15c5e04f5&displayLang=en

After you ensured you have the Framework 2.0 installed, place the Launcher wherever
you want on your Computer. Starting the Launcher out of a network will cause errors.
No installation is required. It scans automaticly where you have Installed your
EaW and FoC.

2. Usage
Make sure that you have every of your Mods for EaW and FoC in the "Mods" Folder.
If you patch your EaW/FoC installation to the lastest version, or install the
mapeditor, these Folders will be created for you. If you wish to create them on your
own, place the "Mods" folder for EaW in the "GameData" folder. For FoC place the
"Mods" folder in the FoC root folder (where the swfoc.exe file is located).
For each Mod you wish to use in EaW/FoC create it's own folder within the Mods folder,
Or rename the Folders you allready have to a Name you know what mod it is. The
Launcher scans the Mod folder, and shows you the name of the folders inside.

To launch the game, or a mod, just open the launcher by double clicking on it. The
unmodded games are found as textlinks above the mod box. To start EaW or FoC make
sure you have the correct disk in your ROM drive, and klick the name of the game.
To start a mod, choose it's name from the list. The tag in front of the mods name
tells you wich disk you need to play it. Activate it by clicking on the name and
then push the start button.
Your game will be launched modded

tech support section. We'll answer your questions there.

I use th EAW ModMannager, and it works good for me, but first times was a little difficult to use.cool
I hope that this mod launcher be more easy for all the SW EAW Mod fans.

Ok,I have the Z3rox,FOC Addons 2.0,LoW 0.7,Deadeyes Venator,and Dfeeds Venator mods for FOC. I had to make folders for almost all of them in the mods folder. It shows them in the Launcher but,when I click the name, say LoW 0.7, it takes me to FOC Addons 2.0.! It was the first FOC mod I played with the editor. It works fine with EAW. What is wrong?

hm, i just tested it with my mods, all works fine

i dunno, maybe this can be a cause, but maybe you can kill all the spaces in the folder names of the mods?

What is wrong!? Do some mods not work with this? I've tried AGDV3,Dfeeds Venator V2,EAW Supreme,Alviars,or whatever his name is,and some others. But,when I start them with the launcher,it goes to "vanilla"(unmodded) EAW!Cry

So far this is the best resource for playing and keeping track of installed mods i have come across for this game. 10/10!

Keep in mind that it works best if the mod already comes w/an installer or short cut.
For example, i have CIS V5, Bailknights Mod V3, and Steiners Reloaded V3 all installed on EAW and after testing all mods in GC, they work fine without any hassle. (they ring up seperately of course)
I am currently trying to install mods w/o installers/short cuts to see if they will work just as fine

I had that error message come up and io nkow what it means.It mean it has changeda units stats/power anchanged a few things.This means that it is cofused an it wont use the new file with the modded stats but i have no idea on how to get rid of it. Sorry

ugh... it doesn't work. everything checks out and for all intents and purposes, it should be working. everything checks out, but when i try to launch a mod, it doesn't launch, it just takes me to the normal game. i ambsolutely sure thsat everything is in it's rright place and set up right. it just plain out doesn't work. help.

I had to reinstall windows and now this launcher will not work. It worked before and I did have 2.0 installed. I have installed 2.0, but it will not work now. I keep getting the same error message even though I have installed and reinstalled 2.0, with and without the hot fixes, and even 3.0 with and without the hotfixes. Like I said I have gotten this to work before, but since I have done a fresh install it does not work now. I get this error from Microsoft .NET Framework:

Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.DirectX.AudioVideoPlayback, Version=1.0.9202.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.

And in the popup box it gives a details, continue, and quite button. If I click continue the launcher opens, but with no sound and no mods show. Also none of the clickable options work on the launcher. If I click details its just a huge list of techno babble.

Please HELP! It seems that the poster before me has the same problem, but no one has responded. I do not know how to load all the mods without this program. None of the short cuts seem to work even if you follow the modders instructions. Thanks in adavance!

Did you install the Mod to the correct Folder? You need to install the Mod to LucasArts/star wars empire at war/data/mod/xxx and have patch 1.03 at minimum for the mod laucher to work.

Same with FoC but to LucasArts/Star Wars Empire At War Forces of Corruption/data/mod

Whenever I load it, I get the same error that #34 gets. I downloaded it fine and got the error, downloaded again and got the error... yeah. It would certaintely be an asset to have...does anyone know why I am getting this error? Does it have to do with this, from the readme: "Starting the Launcher out of a network will cause errors." What does that mean...?confused

I don't normally join forums but this is an exception (not to insinuate that I think they are degrading... which I don't) but after taking some time to play a game on my computer (which happened to be eaw) I tried to put a mod on, after some researching I found out that I needed to make a mod folder... -rattles on about the steps his taken that have already been repeated by others before him- while washing the window... anyway. I'm getting that message from the mod launcher aswell. "Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.DirectX.AudioVideoPlayback, Version=1.0.9202.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified."

Not being the most wisest with computer jargon and modding, I just tried the old fashion way and copied all the files in aosw_jcw (age of the jedi order 'aka' Kotor Mod) into a newly made XML folder in eaw's data folder (curious as to why there wasn't one there before hand) and while the game loaded differently (at this point I haven't even bothered with mod launcher) the game had an additional load screen broadcasting "Jedi Civil Order" along with a loan sith fighter (i think it was anyway). The menu and all that carried on like normal. Still only had Rebel and Empire as playable factions... however upon starting a test run skirmish I was (wouldn't say shocked) "___" to notice that a large portion of text (usually the field that said 'Tie Fighter') was replaced with "MISSING" and shortly thereafter windows makes a PING noise, after hitting spacebar it reverts back to desktop and kills the game off... so there might be a way to manually add all the mod files into the game (which I imagine is what mod launcher does temporarily while active) or I might have just stumbled upon something that's either insignificant, common knowledge or a new field of exploration (not that I'd put my money on the latter).

Hello? how about answering some of the questions here. This mod doesnt work for me either and I'm running xp.

I did everything right and I reinstalled my framework to 2.0 and then tried 3.5... you name it. I hope there is another mod launcher out there because this one is broken and does not work, not only on my computer but 3 of my beta testers.

To answer the much need questions regarding the framework to 2.0 questions. First get Framework 2.0 or higher, Un-install Empire at war, This problem is mainly due to tampering with the date files in the EAW directory. Then re-install Empire at war, patch it using the 1.5 patch found conveniently here. Open the launcher and it should work like a charm. *Remember to completely un-install empire at war.* =) I had the same problem and I did this, And it works fine.

in it funny i installed eaw and foc and got all the latest updates for net framework instaled a mod and what happend net framework error so i tried almost everything to get it to work and nothing happend just the same error so i unistalled the game but left the mods on the computer and lunched the mod changer and what happend it worked i have the gold pack is that some think to do with it i suggest that the Developer make a new one

this worked for me a couple days ago, but now whenever i start a mod, the unmodded version plays. What happened, and how can I fix it? I tried to re-download it, didn't work.

hi, i've a problem. when i start the launcher it causes an error about framework. but i have v.3.0? and ive patched my eaw too. i removed eaw from my computer, but not the mods. after that i started the modlauncher and thers no error! but there no istalled mods too! it is like #56 ^^ i have the gold pack? please help me!

I have the petro mod launcher and i launch it and it comes up / error no audio hardware but then i press continue and there are no mods in the mod list box.

Hi. I've been having problems with the launcher. Evvery time I turn it on it gives me an error. And I Can not use it. I mean I Can see the launcher but it doesn't show my mods on any of the screens! Please Help!




P.S. Not Meaning Any Insults, But Could you possibly make the mods and skins like Jedi Academy Or Jedi Outcast and just have to put the files in the base folder or something more simpiler!

My little brother had the same problem when I installed the mod the mod for him. After googling I found out about a site telling Sims2 players what to do if they encounter this directx.video.blah blah bug.

The site (http://sims.ambertation.de/en/kb/entry/1/) told this:

It is caused by a missing library called Managed Direct X. This ist not Direct X, that has been installed already with "The Sims 2", without it, the game would not run at all.
To get rid of this problem, you have to install Managed Direct X .

After I installed this (install Frame network 2.0 too), everything worked like a charm, no error message, no problems. My brother is now complaining about low fps caused by the mod and his weak pc but that's another story wink .

This MOD launcher is old and does not work with newer mods, that is why I didnt recommend using it with AEM 4.5. Other modders know this too that is why we just include shortcuts to the Exe file included with our mods, it's alot easier and people dont have to fight with this absolutly half @ss mod launcher. My recommendation is to just not use this garbage.

This works fine for all the mods I have and get, other than ones which won't work with .exe files. I've no idea how good it is for FOC because I have so many free mods for EAW, I don't see why I should get FOC.

look, just make an exe path shortcut to the exe and you dont even need the shortcut. that way you can run any mod and never need a mod launcher, even if it says you do, ask in the forums how to do it and some one will answer, probably me,, but im short on time right now, maybe later.

Well, to anyone who gets an error on vista involving microsoft .net framework it is because the author of this file has not yet updated from the outdated framework that is not compatible with superior 64 bit systems and the newer computers that laugh at Crysis. I have microsoft .net framework 2.0, i have the JIT debugger set to "true" and a couple mods for it, and yet, the mod launcher wont work. I do have the mega cheat mods for EAW FOC in the mods folder and everything, but the modlauncher just keeps saying the JIT debugger isn't "true" and keeps not working. what is wrong?

okay this mod launcher doesnt work.

All u who want the launcher listen 2 this. U don't need the launcher. Most of the good mods have shortcuts so u don't need the launcher. Only the old mods need this. If u have an old mod the creator probably made a new and improved mod WITH a shortcut. This file is too confusing anyway. This is wat happened 2 most ppl > ERROR,ERROR,ERROR. Save urself the time and trouble and don't download.

Having the same problem, since upgrading to Windows 7 the launcher won't function. I don't use cstick out tonguerogram files at all so that isn't an issue, the program itself doesn't run properly.

I have the same problem as...pretty much everyone. I have the Gold Pack for SWEAW. My OS is Windows 7 (bye-bye Vista big grin ). I downloaded this (with Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 and 3.5, though 3.5 refused to start) and what I got in the details were: (I placed the line there)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------So you can imagine that when I press Continue Anyways it brings up the menu screen, but with no functionality. Even with the original disc inside my DVD drive the launcher greys out the "Empire at War" and "Forces of Corruption" options for which I should have. Also my mods, resting snugly in my Mods folder in my FoC folder, do not show up. So really, there is nothing to play in the launcher screen. Oh, and there is music when you load the launcher? I didn't hear any.
Perhaps it may be the newer operating systems, this launcher's incompatibility, the Gold Pack thing, or an error (it can't account for everything). I'm going to do some more research on this.

I don't know why but every time i try to go use a Mod launcher i get a Microsoft .Net Framework message "Unhandled Exception has occurred in your aplication." "Is not a valid win32 application" (Exception from HRESULT:0x800700c1) Whats that about?

to answer all those who keep yelling about this not working, first check to see if you are running 64 bit. if so, forget the mod launchers as none appear to work for FOC and 64 bit. i know it sucks, but that's what happens when they release new bit systems. just wait, in a few years you'll be unable to do anything on a new computer that you did on your old one because its now 128 bit. o.o

on the other hand, if you are lucky enough to be running 32 bit, this should work on your comp. if not, then post saying it didnt work. but all those with 64 bit SHUT UP! we know it doesnt work.

No need to ***** ***** ****** just because a program didn't work... do you think they really want to help someone who calls their program "the most ***** that I've seen in my life"

This program is to help you... if you don't like it, use the .bat shortcuts!

This mod launcher does NOT seem to work with EAW/FOC Gold Edition (I have Windows 7 32-bit). This only worked when I didn't use the Gold Edition. This is effing lame, and needs to be fixed already.

This tool looks in the registry to find the mod. It does not work on vista or 7 because of the permission system. I made a modification to this tool, called petrolauncher 2.0 to address this problem.

The modification you made doesn't appear to be working right, it's detecting the mod I have installed for EAW, but NOT the mod for FOC

Thank you to the creators of this, I know you're sacrificing your own personal time to help other people, but honestly.....who runs a 32 bit system anymore? Maybe its more common that I think, but not compatible with a 64 bit? Lol in this day and age I cant imagine 32 bit systems being more common than 64. Itd be nice if you could figure out a way to run it on 64 bit (Idk how hard it would be). Either way, thanks, but still sad it wont work for me.
